Acts 1:4-8 "Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to
wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," [He said,] "you heard of from Me; 5 for John
baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." 6
So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time You are
restoring the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs
which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea
and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.'"

Acts 8:4,5,26,39,40 "Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word. 5
Philip went down to the city of Samaria and [began] proclaiming Christ to them. ... 26 But an
angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Get up and go south to the road that descends from
Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a desert [road.]) ... 39 When they came up out of the water, the
Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way
rejoicing. 40 But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he kept preaching the
gospel to all the cities until he came to Caesarea."
Acts 16:6-10 "They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden
by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; 7 and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to
go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; 8 and passing by Mysia, they came
down to Troas. 9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and
appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." 10 When he had seen the
vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to
preach the gospel to them."
Acts 23:11 "But on the night [immediately] following, the Lord stood at his side and said,
"Take courage; for as you have solemnly witnessed to My cause at Jerusalem, so you must
witness at Rome also.'"
Acts: Discipleship is essential for everyone!
Acts 2:42-47 "They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and
many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had
believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they [began] selling their
property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day
by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they
were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and
having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those
who were being saved."
What is Discipleship?
-Disciples follow Jesus and encourage others to pursue Christ by proclaiming the gospel, teaching
sound doctrine, and modeling spiritual practices.
Acts 4:31 "And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was
shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and [began] to speak the word of God with
boldness."
Acts 8:4 "Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word."
Acts 28:30-31 "And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all
who came to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus
Christ with all openness, unhindered."
Heb. 5:11-14 "Concerning him we have much to say, and [it is] hard to explain, since you have
become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need
again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have
come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes [only] of milk is not
accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the
mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil."
