Psalm 89 | Hope

--

Slides:

There is no more needed, effective, or durable hope than the Hope we have in Jesus Christ.

1- Praise

2- Promise

3- Problem

Hesed (חֶסֶד)

There is more hope in the truth that God has allowed tragedy, than in the thought that things have happened outside of His control.

Hebrews 4:14-16

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

-Prayer should focus on the character of God.

-Prayer should dwell on the promises of God.

-Prayer should be honest.

-Human hope desires something good for the future, but hopes with uncertainty.

-Biblical hope is not just a desire for something; it is an expectant confidence based in the character of God.

What is the Hope that we have in Jesus?

- Hesed (חֶסֶד)

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
