Hebrews 3:13 - But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

Josh 1:5-7 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

What should Biblical encouragement do?

True encouragement is not about making others feel better about themselves, but preparing them to know, obey, and enjoy more of God. -Piper

So what is Encouragement not?

Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hates it’s victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

Flattery Filter:
-Do I want them to think of me, or the Lord?
-Am I hoping to get something out of this?
-Do I encourage people that have nothing to offer me?

Matt 3:16-17 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
