Our Triune God
Our Triune God

We worship one God in trinity and the Trinity in unity, neither confusing the persons nor dividing the divine being.
For the Father is one person, the Son is another, and the Spirit is still another.
But the deity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one, equal in glory, coeternal in majesty. What the Father is, the Son is, and so is the Holy Spirit.
“Our Triune God is an unsearchable mystery, but He is worthy of our searching.”
-Ritchie Johnson
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD…
Gen 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was a formless and desolate emptiness, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
Gen 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was a formless and desolate emptiness, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
John 1:1-3:In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Matt 3:16-17 After He was baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove [and] settling on Him, and behold, a voice from the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
Gen 1:1-3 In the beginning God….
Gen 1:26-27 Then God said, "Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the livestock and over all the earth, and over every crawling thing that crawls on the earth." So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Gen 18:1-2 Now the LORD appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. When he raised his eyes and looked, behold, three men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed down to the ground…
Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
1 Peter 1:2 ….according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
Matthew 28:19 "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit….”
Is the Spirit really a distinct Person of God?
-He speaks and sends (Acts 13:2, 4)
-Chooses (Acts 20:28)
-Teaches (Jn 14:26)
-Gives (Is 63:14)
-He can be lied to and tested (Acts 5:3, 9)
-He can be resisted (Acts 7:51)
-He can be grieved (Is 63:10; Eph 4:30)
-He can be blasphemed (Mt 12:31)
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD…
-Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one…
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
There is a depth of richness in considering the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit rather than just thinking ‘God’.
Things the Trinity helps us understand:
-The Love of God
-Creation
“The Triune God could hardly be starker: a lonely god is empty, hungry, grasping, envious, needy; but this God is superabundant, generous, radiant, and self-giving. And thus the Triune God can and does create. His Grace then is not only his kindness to those who have sinned; His very creating is a work of grace, flowing from His love…God’s love is creative. His love comes first. He gives life and being as a free gift; for His very life, being, and goodness is spreading out that there might be more that is truly good.” - Michael Reeves
