Growing in Gratitude: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

1. Always complaining 2. Not complaining, but never thankful 3. Only thankful when things are good 4. Thankful in ALL things!

“Be thankful in ALL circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

LOOK IN (examine yourself)

What’s your gratitude level?

LOOK OUT (for the good in every day)

Psalm 68:19 - “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits…”

Psalm 92:2 - “It is good to proclaim Your unfailing love in the morning, and Your faithfulness in the evening.”

Lamentations 3:23 - “Great is His faithfulness; HIs mercies begin afresh each morning!”

LOOK OUT (for the good in every situation)

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purposes.”
• “God doesn’t say “Feel thankful”, He says “Be Thankful”
“But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25

LOOK UP (for the power to grow in gratitude)

“Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!” Ephesians 5:18,20
If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13
