--

Slides:

Theme: Obedience results in blessing, and disobedience brings a curse, even in difficult circumstances.

Proverbs 17:12

Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs, Rather than a fool in his folly.

Proverbs 11:22

[As] a ring of gold in a swine's snout [So is] a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.

How Rude (Applications):

The church is a corrective community.

Matthew 18:15

"If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.

How Rude (Applications):

We are accountable for our own response to every situation.

1 Peter 2:18-20

Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable. 19 For this [finds] favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer [for it] you patiently endure it, this [finds] favor with God.

How Rude (Applications):

Hurt feelings can’t be used to justify disobedience.

James 1:19-20

...But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak [and] slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

How Rude (Applications):

God will deliver the righteous and repay the wicked. So don’t grow weary!

Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
