1 Samuel 22 | The Advocate

--

Slides:

Theme: Your future will either be shaped by your past or by the faithful love of Jesus, your Advocate.

1 Chronicles 12:8

From the Gadites there came over to David in the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, who could handle shield and spear, and whose faces were like the faces of lions, and [they were] as swift as the gazelles on the mountains.

Let your needs send you to Jesus, and He will transform you.

Ezekiel 16:23-25

"Then it came about after all your wickedness ('Woe, woe to you!' declares the Lord GOD), 24 that you built yourself a shrine and made yourself a high place in every square. 25 "You built yourself a high place at the top of every street and made your beauty abominable, and you spread your legs to every passer-by to multiply your harlotry.

Don’t fall victim to the “replacement trinity:” my wants, my needs, my feelings.

Psalm 119:29

Remove the false way from me, And graciously grant me Your law.

Psalm 52:1-3, 8

For the choir director. A Maskil of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul and said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God [endures] all day long. 2 Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, O worker of deceit. 3 You love evil more than good, Falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah. ... 8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.

When you commit yourself to Jesus, He commits Himself to you.

1 John 1:9-2:1

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

Romans 8:33-35

Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
