1 Samuel 24 | Listen to Your Heart?

“God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.” Henry Blackaby

Jeremiah 17:9

"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?

Jeremiah 31:33

"But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

It’s very easy to over-spiritualize a situation to achieve a desired outcome.

Deuteronomy 32:35

'Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them.'

Psalm 54:5

He will recompense the evil to my foes; Destroy them in Your faithfulness.

Putting vengeance in the hands of the Lord…

• Allows God to replace anxiety with peace

• Allows room for love and forgiveness

• Makes room to be wrong without error/sin

James 4:8

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Real Repentance:

• Contrition

• Confession

• Correction

• Clean Conscience

Theme: The best way to know God’s will is to know God Himself.

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Psalm 57

A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by. 2 I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes [all things] for me. 3 He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth. 4 My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, [Even] the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword. 5 Be exalted above the heavens, O God; [Let] Your glory [be] above all the earth. 6 They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They [themselves] have fallen into the midst of it. Selah. 7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! 8 Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. 9 I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. 10 For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth to the clouds. 11 Be exalted above the heavens, O God; [Let] Your glory [be] above all the earth.
